Ila M. Quam, 89, of Kenyon, died Monday, November 26, 2012 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault. She was born October 6, 1923 in Kenyon, Minnesota the daughter of Edwin and Anna (Thone) Wallaker. Ila graduated from Foley high school in 1940, and married Maurice Quam August 29, 1942 and the couple made their home in Kenyon.In her earlier years Ila played the organ for church and sang for weddings, funerals and family occasions. Ila was an active member of First Evangelical Church in Kenyon, where she was involved in Ladies Aid, teaching Sunday school, making drapes and choir robes, Love Days,and Priscilla Club. Maurice even talked her into getting her license to drive bus. Ila was well known for all of her sewing including wedding dresses that she fashioned on her own. She enjoyed baking and making Lefse for Vang Church, family and her loyal customers. She made over 250 dozen Lefse each holiday season. She was a member of the Homemakers Club, and the Literary Guild. Maurice and Ila enjoyed traveling and going to the cabin. She is survived by her children, Marilyn (and Allen) Larson of Marine on St. Croix, Mike (and Linda) Quam of Elk River, and Lance Quam of Wadena, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and her brother Jim Wallaker of Inver Grove Heights. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Maurice. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Tuesday December 4, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Wednesday December 5, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with The Reverend Luther Mathsen officiating. Interment will be in the Dale Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
