Ione C. Nelson, 80, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Owatonna Hospital. Ione was born August 1, 1931 in West Concord, Minnesota the daughter of Sigurd and Lillian (Brekke) Helland. She was raised and attended country school near West Concord. She helped work on the family farm following school. She was united in marriage to Jerome Nelson on June 27, 1953 at the Little Brown Church. The made their home in Owatonna. Jerome died in July of 2006. She is survived by a daughter, Lee Ann (and Warren) Schley of Owatonna; a sister, Shirley (and Paul) Peterson of Kenyon; two grandchildren and a great grandson. Ione was preceded in death by her husband Jerome and her parents. Visitation will be at St. John Lutheran Church on Friday, December 9, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 9, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
