Ione Lorna Standke, 83, of Owatonna, died Monday, July 29, 2013 at Clare Bridge Cottage of Owatonna. She was born January 2, 1930 in Somerset Township, Minnesota the daughter of Walter and Mary (Wanous) Kaplan. She attended Riverpoint Country School District #37. She married Donald Standke on February 7, 1948 at the First Lutheran Church in Hope. They farmed on the Standke family farm in Somerset Township. Ione also worked as a waitress at the Village Caf and a wedding cake decorator at Nelson''s Grocery Store all in Owatonna. Ione was very creative and artistic. She enjoyed sewing, painting, flower and vegetable gardening. She was self taught in piano and yodeling. She was an excellent baker, especially her biscuits and breads. Ione also enjoyed the outdoors and taught her children to fish. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church of Hope, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent and taught Sunday School, member of Ruth Circle and the church choir. She was also the 4-H leader for Pride of Somerset. She is survived by her husband Donald Standke of Owatonna; three children, Douglas (and Kathleen) Standke of Monticello, Thomas (and Sandra) Standke of Owatonna, and Sherry (and Bradley) Ahrens of Claremont; six grandchildren, Jodi Standke, Katie (and Martin) Sundberg, Andrew (and Kaye) Standke, Elizabeth (and Eric) Fink, Eric (and Lacy) Standke, and Travis (and Samantha) Ahrens; five great grandchildren, Oliver Sundberg, Maxwell Fink, Avery, Teagun, and Addison Ahrens; sister, Benita Hoffman of Owatonna. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Gail Johnson, granddaughter, Heather Ahrens, two sisters, Lorraine Pechacek and Doris Vaith, and brother, Walter Kaplan Jr. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at First Lutheran Church of Hope on Friday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM . Funeral services will be held Friday, August 2, 2013 at 10:30 AM at First Lutheran Church of Hope with The Reverend Sandy Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church of Hope, Clare Bridge Cottage of Owatonna, or Owatonna Area Hospice.
