Irene Jane Sletten, 86, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born April 11, 1932 in Albert Lea the daughter of Oscar and Emma (Davidson) Flugum. Irene graduated from Ellendale High School in 1952. After high school, Irene worked at North Park and married Shirly Sletten on Feb. 6, 1955 and the couple moved to Owatonna. Irene worked in the kitchen for Federated Insurance for many years and retired from there in 2006. Irene loved cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, water aerobics, collecting dolls as well as spoons. She is survived by daughter, Sandy (Ted) Rickerl; sons, Steve (Sherry) Sletten, Art (Maureen) Sletten, Eric (Sara) Sletten, Oscar (Jackie) Sletten, Brian Sletten; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Fern Wahlers; brothers, Virgil Flugum and Rolland Flugum and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Shirly Sletten;, son, Scott Sletten; daughter Lisa Kaye Sletten; sister, Opal Bergerson; brother, Robert Flugum; grandchildren Tiffany Speltz and Adam Dailey, great-grandchild, Elijah Feine. Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, Owatonna on Saturday from 9:30-11:30 am. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Amanda Weinkauf officiating. Interment will at East Freeborn Cemetery, Albert Lea.
