Irene A. Zimmerman, 94, of Owatonna, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Valley View Assisted Living in Owatonna. Irene Alvina Zimmerman was born November 21, 1919 in Owatonna, Minnesota the daughter of Sam and Ida (Edwardson) Moe. Irene graduated from Owatonna High School class of 1937. She was united in marriage to Alger Zimmerman on January 27, 1939 in Austin, Minnesota. Irene worked as a homemaker raising her children and at Spurgeons for 13 years until she retired in 1968. She enjoyed decorating, gardening, reading, traveling with her husband, Alger, and going South during the winter months in their motorhome. She is survived by her daughters, Shari Frank of Owatonna; Susan (and Harley) Karsten of Lubbock, TX; Jackie Klepetka of Owatonna; sons, Tom (and Cathy) Zimmerman of Morristown; and Tim (and Becky) Zimmerman of Owatonna; 13 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alger (2002); her parents; her sisters, DuLas Zimzonek; Isabell Ingalls; Sylvia Hurt; and a brother, Alvin Moe. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial services will be held Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Katherine Gibson Christensen officiating.
