Jack Amundson, 62, of Owatonna died Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Regions Hospital, St. Paul. Jack was born January 23, 1950 in Seattle, Washington. He was raised in Rothsay, Minnesota and graduated from high school in 1968. He then attended Fergus Falls Community College and later Moorhead State University where he received his degree in Sociology and Social Work. He worked at a treatment center in Wadena. He was married to Sandy MacDonald and the couple later divorced. Jack bought a farm in West Concord and later lived in Owatonna. He was employed at Steele County Human Services and worked for 26 years with Fountain Lake Treatment Center as a chemical dependency counselor and interventionist. Jack loved the Minnesota Twins. He was an avid collector of bobble heads. Mostly though, Jack enjoyed his work. He helped thousands of people over the years through his counseling and interventions making many lasting friendships along the way. Family was important to him as well. He enjoyed the time he spent with his daughters, sons-in-law, and his grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters, Andrea Amundson (and Jim Koch) of St. Paul; Jessica (and Christian) Lewis of Sauk Rapids; two grandchildren Maddox and Kennedy Lewis of Sauk Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Pastor Barb Streed officiating. Interment will be in the Hamar Cemetery in Rothsay, Minnesota.
