James Edward Engvall, 61, of Hastings, died Monday, April 2, 2018 at United Hospital in St. Paul. He was born March 8, 1957 in Owatonna the son of Victor and Betty (Bell) Engvall. Jim graduated from West Concord High School and attended Mankato State University. He moved back to West Concord where he farmed with his parents and worked at Foldcraft and Cannon Equipment. He married DeAnn Casselton June 29, 1996. Jim finished his working years with Blount Hydro Ax. In 2008, the couple adopted their son Josh and Jim became a stay at home dad. Jim liked spending time with his son, puttering in his shop, being a crossing guard and taking his dog Bailey to the dog park. He is survived by his wife, DeAnn Engvall of Hastings; son, Josue James Engvall of Hastings; sister, Marilyn (and David) Bue of Princeton; brothers, William (and Jane) Engvall of Alexandria, VA, Robert (and Janet) Engvall of Barrington RI; mother-in-law, Anita Nelson of St. Paul and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord Chapel on Sunday from 3pm to 6pm and on Monday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 9, 2018 at 11am at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord Chapel with The Reverend James Rushton officiating.
