James C. Hope, 81, of Kenyon, died Sunday, November 29, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 21, 1928 in Faribault, Minnesota the son of Carl and Milla (Qualle) Hope. James grew up in Nerstrand, and after school served in the United States Army being honorably discharged. He then began working construction and farming. James married Kathleen Garrity in 1955 in Faribault, the couple then moved to the Kenyon area where James continued doing construction and starting on his own in farming. James retired from farming in 1995. James enjoyed the Minnesota Twins, flowers, watching birds, and nature. He is survived by his wife Kathleen; children, JoAnn (and Robert) Erie, Wanda (and Curt) Eschenbach, Jeannette (and Larry) Floren, Michael (and Debbie) Hope, Victor Hope, Pete Hope, and Brad Hope all of Kenyon, and John Hope of Nerstrand. Ten grandchildren, two-step grandchildren, one great grandson, and one brother Donald Hope of Nerstrand also survive him James was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Jared Hope, sister Carol Gunhus, and five brothers Harding, Glenn, Russell, Phillip, and Allen. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home Kenyon on Wednesday December 2, 2009 from 4 - 7PM and at Vang Lutheran Church on Thursday December 3, 2009 from 10 11 AM. Memorial service will be held Thursday December 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Vang Lutheran Church with The Reverend Terje Hausken, and Reverend Nancy Edwardson co- officiating. The Kenyon Veterans Color Guard will provide Millitary honors.
