James Walter Lindgren, 88, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. He was born September 29, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Harry and Melva (Belch) Lindgren. He moved with his family to Owatonna and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1946. Jim served in the United States Marine Corp and met his future wife, Loraine Larson, who was also serving in the Marine Corp. They were married July 16, 1946 in Los Angeles, California. They made their home in Owatonna and Jim worked at Josten''s until 1960 when he started Owatonna Graphics. He sold Owatonna Graphics after 25 years and continued working in the printing industry until his retirement from JC Press. They also resided in Waterville on Reeds Lake from 1981 until 2000, when they returned to Owatonna. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at Lake Charlotte and Reeds Lake. He loved to fish in both summer and winter months, along with his son, Jay. He was a member of the Elks, along with the Masons and Shriners. He is survived by his wife, Loraine Lindgren of Owatonna; son, Jay Lindgren of Owatonna; daughter, Maria Obondo of Windom; close family friend, Betsy Lindgren of Owatonna; eight grandchildren, Josh, Justin, Jamie, Kellie, Katie, Sheston, Travis, and Lillian; six great grandchildren, Spencer, Ian, Quinn, and Aiden, Tia, and McKenna. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jan Allen, infant granddaughter, Jennifer Lee Kennedy Lindgren, and brother, Jack Lindgren. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on Monday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home. Military honors will be conducted by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit. Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice House or Owatonna Foundation.
