Obituary

Jane Christenson, age 62, of Owatonna, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Jane was born on March 10, 1964, in Austin, MN, to Juan Sr. and Jovita (Lumbreras) Villarreal. She grew up in Maple Island, MN, and attended Hollandale Elementary School. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1982.

On October 7, 2003, Jane married her best friend, Terry Christenson, and together they built a life centered on love, laughter, family, and friendship. She treasured every moment spent with those she loved most. Jane especially enjoyed following her grandchildren’s hockey activities, gathering with family on Sundays at her parents’ home, playing games, and sharing laughs. She also enjoyed relaxing on her patio, attending swap meets, and spending summers fishing—especially during Jane and Terry’s cherished annual fishing trips.

Jane was known for her incredible work ethic and dedication throughout her career. She worked at Mrs. Gerry’s and Federated Insurance, and she spent many years serving at the Civil Process Sheriff’s Office. She cared deeply for others, always offering kindness, support, and love to everyone around her. Her warmth and compassion touched countless lives, and she will be missed by so many.

Jane will be forever missed by her loving husband, Terry Christenson; her daughters, Jamie (Justin) Matson and Jennifer (Tristan) Sather; her beloved grandchildren, Joey, Jenna, Henrik, and Anders; her sister, Yolanda (Aristeo) Martinez; brother-in-law, Doug DeBoer; sisters-in-law, Kris Villarreal and Amy Villarreal; mother-in-law, Annabell Christenson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Jovita Villarreal; her sister, Carmen DeBoer; her brother, Dave Villarreal; and her twin brother, Juan Villarreal Jr.

Jane’s love for her family and friends, her laughter, and her caring spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Jane’s Life will be held at a later date.
