Jane E. Stepanek, 60, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at her home. She was born December 10, 1949 in Waseca, Minnesota the daughter of Eugene and Florence (Wendel) Phillips. The family grew up on the Phillips farm in Deerfield Township. Jane attended school in Owatonna and graduated from Marion High School, after school she was introduced to Steven Stepanek, and they were married September 25, 1976 at Mineral Springs Park in Owatonna. Jane later moved to Shakopee and worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., and then later moved to a hobby farm in Webster, MN, where she could use her talents as a gardener, both at home and professionally. She was praise over and over for her flowers at the Northfield Golf Club. She later moved to St. Augustine, FL and became a massage therapist. She moved back to Owatonna in 2006 to be near her children and sisters and continued to work as a massage therapist. Jane enjoyed hiking, camping, painting, travel, and playing cards with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Stepanek of Minneapolis, and son, Joshua (and Diana) Stepanek of St. Cloud. She is also survived by her sisters, Linda (and Nikolai) Alenov of St. Paul, Carol (and Gary Halverson) Phillips of Owatonna, Theresa Phillips of St. Paul, and Michael Phillips of Montana. She was also known as Aunt Jane to numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Her husband Steven, father Eugene Phillips and mother Florence Phillips preceded her in death. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday March 1,2010 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Memorial service will be held Monday March 1, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating.
