Janet K. Hoberg, 74, of Owatonna, died Monday, April 29, 2019 at Owatonna Hospital.
Janet Kay was born November 20, 1944 in Owatonna, the daughter of William and Sylvia (Ohnstad) Klemmer. She grew up in downtown Owatonna and attended and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1963. Janet was a member of the OHS choir and a member of the Roger Tenney Corral. She then went on to complete her undergraduate degree at Concordia-Moorhead and then furthered her education by attending Minnesota State University and obtaining a Master's degree in Studio Art. Jan began her teaching career at Glenco Schools and taught there for 2 years before becoming the art teacher at Waseca Middle School. Jan taught art classes for over 30 years before she retired in 2001. She touched many through her teaching, and is still proving to have had an impact in her students' lives.
On November 23, 1968 Jan married Gary D. Hoberg at Trinity Lutheran Church and the couple had two children. Jan was a member of Trinity her entire life, and grew to be a very active member there with her husband. Jan sang in the church choir, and even created bulletins for the church with her artistic abilities.
Jan's passion for art was expressed in many ways. Her Master's emphasis was in stippling, but she also loved pencil drawing, water colors, oil painting, calligraphy, and sculpture. Jan displayed her artwork in many art shows at West Hills. She also loved flowers and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gary Hoberg of Owatonna; children, Heather (Christopher Rothe) Hensley of Rochester and Erick (Jessica) Hoberg of Hibbing; grandchildren, Zachary Hensley, Reagan Hoberg, Kennedy Rothe, and AJ Rothe; twin sister, Julie (David) Knapp of Faribault; sister, Mary (Todd) Hale of Owatonna; sister-in-law, Sharyn (Thomas Sr.) Fowler; cousins, Jannie (David) Fitch and Lorraine (Duane) Yule; and many more cousins, friends, and family.
