Janet Dorothy Thompson, 71, of Ellendale, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 24, 2021 at her home.
She was born February 27, 1950 in Red Wing, Minnesota the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Hanson) Brekke. She grew up in Red Wing. She graduated from Red Wing High School in 1968. She attended college in California. On June 21, 1975, she married Ronald James Thompson in Las Vegas. The couple lived in Riverside, CA for two years, then Moland and finally rural Ellendale. Along with being a homemaker, Janet worked as a master scheduler at Truth in Owatonna for 27 years.
Janet was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hope. Her passion was quilting. She enjoyed getting together with her friends on quilting retreats and sharing stories. She also loved Christmas time and especially enjoyed getting together with her family. She was a very giving person and accepted everyone without judgment.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Thompson of Ellendale; children, Andrea Thompson of Owatonna, Rhonda Nappin of Clarks Grove, Jim Thompson of Hope, Robert Thompson of Ellendale, Sandy Wohlers of Plainview and Michael Thompson of Oronoco; grandchildren, Alyssa Nappin, Carissa Nappin, Danielle Nappin, Dakota Nappin, Destiny Heath, River Thompson, Domanick Thompson, Breanna Guerra, Dustin Mussell and Joshua Wohlers; great-grandchildren, Aspen and Aiden Arnett, Mia, Jase and Jax Mussell and sister-in-law, Nancy Brekke.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dorothy Brekke; grandson, Brian Wohlers and brothers, Walter and Andrew "Sam" Brekke.
Visitation will be at First Lutheran Church - Hope on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM . Funeral services will be held July 28, 2021 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church - Hope with Reverend Jack Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
