Jean Alvira Hanson, age 88, of Owatonna, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Traditions II of Owatonna. Jean was born June 21, 1926 in Hickson, North Dakota the daughter of James and Myrtle (Bye) Prentice. She attended public school in Moorhead, Minnesota graduating in 1944. Jean was united in marriage to Orville Hanson on June 13, 1947 in Moorhead. She then worked in retail sales for a few years and then moved to Rushford, Minnesota with her husband. There she worked as a secretary at the high school. After moving to Owatonna in 1951 she worked for a short time at Federated and also at the Shopper. Jean was also a homemaker and enjoyed volunteering at various places such as Senior Place, Crows Nest, the Hospital Auxiliary for over 4,000+ hours, the United Way, Meals on Wheels and at Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband Orville Hanson of Owatonna; a son Brian Hanson of Denver, CO;, daughter-in-law, Lynette Hanson of Littleton, CO; a grandson, Derek Hanson of Littleton. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, James Prentice. Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Ron Barth officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
