Jean E. Olson, 84, of Owatonna, died Monday, March 9, 2020 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born March 21, 1935 in Dundas, the daughter of Everett and Mildred (Schultz) Chester. She attended school through the 8th grade and became the caregiver for her younger siblings. On August 28, 1955, she married Alvin Leonard Olson in Faribault. Jean worked for the Owatonna Canning Company and later Owatonna Tool Company where she retired in the late 90's. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and going to casinos. Jean enjoyed traveling including trips to Deadwood, Vegas and Laughlin. She was always there for her family and enjoyed spending time with them especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Doug Olson of Owatonna, Ken Olson of Medford, Darrin Olson of Owatonna and Jason Olson of Owatonna; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Cromer of Waseca and Ruth Godfrey of Cannon Falls; brothers, Don Chester of Cannon City and Everett "Tim" Chester of Northfield; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Olson who died on October 2, 2002; brothers, James "Jim" Chester and Theodore "Ted" Chester. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, March 12, 2020, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and also one hour prior to the service. Funeral service will be held March 13, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Huber officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens.
