Jeanne P. Ellingson, 87, of Kenyon, died Thursday, June 11, 2020, at Three Links Reflections in Northfield surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 22, 1932 in Owatonna, the daughter of Kenneth and Lucille (Cawley) Hammel. Jeanne graduated from Owatonna High School in 1950 and attended the College of Medical Technicians earning her certification as a laboratory technician. In 1951, she married Bernhard "Pete" Ellingson. They had three children and later divorced. Jeanne was a wonderful and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an enthusiastic supporter of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attended many of their events. She enjoyed spending time at the cabin at the lake and had a passion for fishing and boating. Jeanne also enjoyed golfing, playing cards especially bridge, shopping for antiques and collectibles. She was an accomplished baker and always had cookies, cakes and bars available for her family and friends. Jeanne was active in the community helping with many projects with the Historical Society, Gunderson House, library and the local girl scouts. She was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a long-time member of the Priscilla Quilting Group stitching
many quilts.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Debora Ellingson of Owatonna, Wanda (Wayne) Eisenhuth of Northfield, Jeff (Kim) Ellingson of Kenyon; grandchildren, Brianna (Derick) Forsberg, Hannah Forsberg, Andy Eisenhuth, Audra Tejeda, Alyssa (Maurice) Samlaska, Samantha and Monica Ellingson; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Hunter, Zoe and Jaxon Forsberg; Kiana Forsberg, Andrew and Kyleigh Tejeda, Marissa and Vivian Samlaska.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Kenneth Hammel.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, June 15, 2020. A private family service will be at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Kenyon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Gunderson House.
