Jeannette Louise Homuth, 91, of Owatonna, died Friday, September 7, 2018 at Traditions of Owatonna.
She was born June 24, 1927 in Owatonna, Minnesota the daughter of Otto and Gertrude (Selthun) Masche. She grew up in Clinton Falls Township and graduated from Owatonna High School with the Class of 1946. Following her schooling, she worked at Federated, Jostens and Malm Jewelers. On October 15, 1947, she married Lloyd Homuth at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna. The couple made their home on a farm south of Owatonna where they raised their family. Along with being a homemaker, Jeannette worked as a waitress at Village Coffee House, a sales clerk at Lundberg OK Hardware and as a food hostess at Cash Wise. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Pratt Progressives and the Elks.
Jeannette enjoyed traveling with her husband to all 50 states and also abroad. She was a well rounded person enjoying a wide range of activities including dancing, music, playing cards, golfing, embroidery, quilting, arts and crafts, canning and gardening and cooking. Jeannette was a kind, generous and sweet person, but also had a take-charge side to her.
She is survived by children, Virginia Ginny Latocki of Minneapolis; Sonja (and Jeff) Golwitzer of Lithia, FL, and Charles Chuck (and Arlina) Homuth of Temple Terrace, FL; grandchildren, Zachary Homuth, Dylan Lloyd Homuth and Austin Homuth and siblings, Ruth Thorsheim of Austin and Manley Masche of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Homuth and brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Muriel Masche.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 12th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna on Thursday from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM . Funeral services will be held September 13, 2018 at 11:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna with The Reverend Amanda Weinkauf officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
