Jerome Ernest Rhodes, 83, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. He was born December 30, 1929 in West Concord, Minnesota the son of Fred and Augusta (Wehmeyer) Rhodes. He graduated from West Concord High School. He farmed for a few years then moved to Montana where he worked as a rancher. He returned to the area and married Arlene Patchin on February 6, 1960 at the United Methodist Church in Douglas, Minnesota. They made their home in Stewartville until moving to Owatonna in 1966. Jerome worked for the Minnesota State Highway Department until his retirement. Jerome enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, fishing, and was an avid Twins fan. He also repaired golf carts and had a lawn mowing service. He was a member of United Methodist Church, Owatonna Eagles Club where he was active with the Eagles Cancer Auction, and a dedicated blood donor for American Red Cross. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Rhodes of Owatonna; three daughters, Kay Geppert of Rochester, Mary (and Brian) Dallmann of Owatonna, and Susan (and Thomas) Knight of Burns, Wyoming; three grandchildren, Sarah and Ryan Geppert, and Andrew Dallmann; five sisters, Mary Gillard and Charlotte Hughes of Kasson, Carole Walker, and Joanne (and Delmer) Paulson of West Concord, and Linda (and Marshall) Beckett of Ladysmith, WI; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Gary Geppert, two sisters, Della Gillard, and Dorothy Stucky, and three brothers, William Lester, Delbert, and Robert. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at United Methodist Church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM at United Methodist Church with The Reverend Loren Olson officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Alzheimer''s Research Unit or Homestead Hospice House.
