Obituary

Jim Vincent Buskovick, 93, of Owatonna, died Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Traditions II. Jim was born June 4, 1923 in Clinton Falls Township, Minnesota the son of Vincent and Mary Buskovick. He grew up on the farm and attended country school in Clinton Falls and then St. Mary's School. Jim married Dorothy Searles on October 19, 1944 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church. Jim served in the army in Japan and the Philippines, earning the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon. After the military, Jim and Dorothy farmed the family farm in Merton Township. They both loved their farm life and raised four children. Jim was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He was active in 4-H and American Legion softball. He was a member of the Owatonna American Legion and V.F.W. He enjoyed all sports and hunting. After retiring from farming, Jim worked at Owatonna Manufacturing Co. until 1985. He and Dorothy enjoyed many bus trips through the US and Canada, fishing trips and time spent at Wilkins Lake. Jim loved to garden and nature. He was always excited to spend time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael; parents; brothers and sisters, Ray (Mary) Buskovick, Gertrude (Alfred) Zak, Leona (Edward) Zak, Leonard Buskovick and Frances (John) O'Neill. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Buskovick; daughter-in-law, Carol Buskovick; children, Terry Buskovick, Becki (Richard) Reese and Keith Buskovick; grandchildren, Dan (Krista) Buskovick, Maia (Shayne) Kirchner, Megan Harstad and Erin (Justin) Field; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Grayson Kirchner; Amber, Claire and Nolan Harstad and Brielle, Cienna and Allaire Field; sister Joan (Bill) Driessen and sister-in-law, Jeanette Cunningham and many nieces, nephews and his family at Traditions II and Heartland Hospice. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Deacon Pat Fagan officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna with military honors provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
