Joan Ida (Persons) Heston passed away on November 26, 2023 in Clarksville, TN. Joan is preceded in death by her loving husband Obie, parents Emily and Gus, son-in-Law Mark Bartosch and her grandson Matthew Bartosch.

Joan is survived by her sister Sandra Walton, sister and brother-in-law Mary and Pat Garaghty, four children, grandchildren Amber (Reimers) Dahlston, Brady Reimers, Zachary Bartosch, Steven and Logan Heston and four great-grandchildren.

Joan was born September 17, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN to Emily and Gus Persons. She grew up there, graduating from North High School in 1959. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Oberdon (Obie) Louis Heston, Jr. in 1961 and loved him until his death in 2001. Together they had three boys, Michael (wife Panda) Heston, Christopher Heston, Stephen Heston and one daughter Jennifer (Heston) Bartosch (husband Mark). They moved to Owatonna, MN in 1971 where they lived and raised their family. Joan worked at both Viracon and Truth Hardware from where she retired in 2001.

Joan and Obie were avid motorcyclists, enjoying trips to 49 of 50 states and the lower Canadian provinces. Joan enjoyed the movies, singing in several choral groups, playing cards with her long-time friends, volunteering at various organizations in Owatonna and attending church and bible study at Trinity Lutheran Church. She loved her children and grandchildren and spending time with her family and friends made her very happy. Joan was a wonderful mother and friend and is dearly missed by many.

Services will be held on May 4th at 1 PM at Michaelson's Funeral Home, 1930 Austin Rd, Owatonna, MN 55060, with visitation from 11am until time of service. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 2030 S Cedar Ave, Owatonna, MN 55060.
