Joan Colleen Larson passed away at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN on April 14, 2020, at the age of 86. Joan was born at home in Thompson, IA, to Joe and Eva Bravick on Aug. 30, 1933. She was raised in Thompson, IA and attended Luther College in Decorah, IA where she received her teaching degree. She married Stanton Larson on December 26, 1954. During their 50 years of marriage, Joan and Stanton were blessed with three children, Timothy, Thomas, and Tamara. In 1965 the family moved from Thompson, IA to Owatonna, MN, and resided there until moving to Rochester a few years after the death of her beloved husband in 2005. Joan enjoyed children immensely. She had a keen ability to connect with people of all ages, but especially the little ones. Her career in teaching began as a first grade teacher but most of her career was teaching nursery school-aged children. Joan is survived by her three children, Timothy (Sarah), Thomas (Nona), and Tamara (Michael Neff); 4 grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and also by her brother, Donald Bravick. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Darlene; her twin brother, Joel, and two other brothers, Wayne and Harold. A service of life celebration has been postponed for a future date.
