Joan Moeckly, 68, of Medford, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Homestead Hospice House. Joan was born February 6, 1941 in Ripley Township, Dodge County, the daughter of Wilford and Mildred (Matzke) Schmoll. She was raised in the Rice Lake area and attended school in Claremont and then finished her schooling in Owatonna. She was united in marriage to Gaylord Moeckly on October 17, 1959 in Peace Lutheran Church, Claremont. They made their home near Claremont until moving to Owatonna where she worked for Josten's, OTC, and County Market. They moved to Medford. Joan then worked as a clerk, cashier and helping with set-ups for Darrah's Auction Center in Burnsville. She enjoyed collecting, blue hobnail glass, glass shoes, Avon bottles and snow babies. She enjoyed going to the casinos in the area and also to Las Vegas with her husband. She also enjoyed playing Bingo. She is survived by her husband Gaylord Moeckly of Medford; son, Rick Moeckly of Owatonna; a brother, Don (and Sharon) Schmoll of Rochester; two sisters, Connie (and Marvin 'Mick' Madsen) Blinsky of Kasson; Sandee Buckingham of Kasson; a granddaughter, Michelle (and Wayne Hall) Moeckly of Owatonna and two great grandsons, Jayden and Xander. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Mildred Schmoll; and a son Brian Moeckly. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Memorial services will be held August 1, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Franchon Pirkl, OSF officiating. Interment will be in the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault.
