JoAnn Deml, age 80, of Owatonna, passed away on July 4, 2015 at Koda Living Community. JoAnn was born on October 4, 1934 to Floyd and Helen (Springer) Jacobson in Meeker County, Minnesota. She attended and graduated from Litchfield High School. Upon graduation she moved to Hutchinson and there worked at Thrifty Drug. She moved to Owatonna and also worked for Thrifty Drug. She was united in marriage to Thomas Deml in Owatonna. JoAnn became a stay at home mom and also helped raise foster children. As the kids got older, JoAnn began working at Wilson Elementary School in the lunch room or wherever she was needed. JoAnn volunteered at Sacred Heart, Wilson School and was active with the Senior Center. She enjoyed the trips they offered and went to Branson, Chanhassen and other day trips. She enjoyed baking cookies, flower gardening and taking walks. She will be best known for her fabulous sense of humor, her laugh and her smile. She loved her family very much and will be dearly missed. JoAnn is survived by two daughters, Mary Jo (and Craig) Schwartz of Owatonna; Amy (and Jerry) Boumeester of Waseca; two sons, Raymond (and April) Siebold of Owatonna; John Siebold-Deml of Owatonna; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Deml (1990), her parents, and a son, Brad Vorbeck (2014). Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Father John Sauer officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna.
