Obituary

Joanne Marilyn Neuleib, 86, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at her home. She was born September 7, 1930 in Minot, North Dakota the daughter of George and Margaret (Helenske) Claesgens. Joanne was raised in St. Cloud where she graduated from Cathedral High School. She continued her education graduating from St. Benedict's College. Following college she was a flight attendant which enabled her to see the world before starting her teaching career in Osakis. While teaching in Osakis she met and married Robert Neuleib Sept. 4, 1954 in St. Cloud. In 1963 the couple moved to Owatonna where they raised their four children. Joanne was a substitute teacher and coached tennis. She enjoyed the outdoors and many outdoor activities such as tennis, hiking, running, hunting and waterskiing. She continued to slalom ski until she was 74 years old. Joanne loved to cheer on and support her grandchildren in their sports activities. She is survived by daughters, Cathy Neuleib of Maple Grove, Kristin (and Gary) Feichtinger of Owatonna, Jody (and Bill) Young of Owatonna; son, Dave Neuleib of Waukesha, WI; grandchildren, Matt Feichtinger, David Feichtinger, Jack (and Alyssa) Neuleib, Megan Neuleib; great grandchild, Lacy Neuleib; brother, Robert Claesgens of Belmont, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Neuleib; brother, Jim Claesgens; sister, Virginia Claesgens. Visitation will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Kevin Connolly officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna.
