Joanne Marie Wetzstein, 63, of Kenyon, died Thursday, May 11, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was born March 15, 1954 in Algona, Iowa the daughter of Earl and Shirley (Miller) Bowman. When she was one year old, she moved with her family to a farm south of Dodge Center where she grew up. She attended school in Dodge Center and graduated from high school in 1972. She was united in marriage to Allen Wetzstein on August 5, 1972. The couple made their home in Kenyon where they raised their two children, Jason and Christina. When her children went to school, she began working at the Kenyon tax office and later was a secretary in the Kenyon and West Concord school system. In 1998 she retired due to her health. However, she did daycare for her grandchildren and was currently taking care of her special, little friend, Jaxsyn, at her home. Her children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. Joanne was a 4-H leader when her children were in school, enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, annual trips to Texas and trips up north during the summer. She was a member of Moland Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School. She is survived by mother, Shirley Bowman of Dodge Center; daughter, Christina (Norman) Peterson of West Concord; son, Jason (LaDena) Wetzstein of Kenyon; brothers, Tom Bowman and Robert (Julie) Bowman both of Dodge Center; sister in law, Linda Bowman of Dodge Center; former husband, Allen of Kenyon; grandchildren, Aleesha Klindworth, Grant Klindworth, Brady Wetzstein, Savannah Peterson, Joslyn Peterson and Remi Peterson and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by father, Earl Bowman; brother, John Bowman; sister in law, June Bowman and grandparents, Earl and Veda Bowman and John and Grace Miller. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 3:00 PM to 6:00, PM and at Moland Lutheran Church on Monday from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM . Funeral services will be held Monday, May 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Moland Lutheran Church, 7618 NE 84th Avenue - Kenyon, MN with officiating Reverend Nancy Edwardson officiating.
