Joe E. Bert Parker Jr., 52, of Owatonna, Minnesota died Monday, February 1, 2016 at his home. Bert was born July 22, 1963 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of Joe Parker Sr. and Norma (Ingram) Myers-Galofaro. He graduated Forsyth County High School and Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia. Bert married Tracie Silvers on May 22, 1993 in Kennesaw, Georgia. They made their home in Henry County, Georgia where Bert worked at Delta Airlines, Korean Air, Samuel Shapiro Inc., and Home Depot Corporate Office. In December of 2012, Tracie took a transfer with Federated Insurance and the family moved to Owatonna. Bert was currently employed as a Logistics Program Consultant for Unisys in Eagan, Minnesota. Bert was an active member of Stockbridge First United Methodist Church, Stockbridge, GA and NewLife Community in Owatonna, Minnesota where he played drums for the Worship Band. He volunteered for Beds For Kids and was a past member of the Owatonna Basketball Association. He also was a board member for Walk to Emmaus. Bert loved spending time with his family and friends that included camping trips and traveling. He enjoyed playing basketball in high school and college. Bert loved being an assistant coach to his daughter's basketball team in Owatonna. He was also a Georgia Bulldog Football Fan. He is survived by his wife, Tracie Parker of Owatonna; his daughter, Brooke Parker of Owatonna; mother, Norma Myers-Galofaro and her husband, Frank, of Tignall, GA; father, Joe Parker Sr., and his wife, Jean, of Tignall, GA; sister, Tracie Crandall, and her husband, Steve, of Covington, GA; nieces and nephew, Krystal, Jessie, and Justin; mother-in-law, Jane Silvers of Owatonna; and extended family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father-in-law, Jim Silvers. Memorial services will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Stockbridge First United Methodist Church with Pastor Jody Ray officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm on Sunday prior to the service. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Daybreak Community Church in Owatonna with a Memorial Service beginning at 7:00 PM.
