John Elmer Mason 1932-2015 - John Elmer Mason, 82, of Milton, Wisconsin, died Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Willowfield Nursing and Rehabilitation, Delavan, Wisconsin of natural causes. He was born October 28, 1932 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the son of Elmer and Petra (Johnson) Mason. He attended high school in La Crosse and graduated from La Crosse College with a degree in engineering. He joined the Navy served four years of active duty and twenty-six years in the reserves and is a Korean War veteran. John married Carlene Smith in 1955. They had one daughter, Cynthia Kay (Busch). John lived in La Crosse, WI and Northfield, MN prior to moving to Owatonna. He was employed at Wenger Corp for twenty-two years prior to his retirement in 1993. John was an active member of Elks Lodge #1395, served Exulted Ruler from 1982-1983 and was a member of the ring committee for fifteen years. John enjoyed dancing, woodworking, spending winters in Lake Havasu City and meeting new people. John Mason is survived by his wife, Carlene Mason, Milton, WI; his daughter Cynthia Busch, Milton, WI; and sister Joan Everson, La Crosse, WI. He is preceded in death by his mother, Petra Mason; and brother James Mason. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 14 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John's life.
