Obituary

John "Jack" N. Peterson, 81, of Claremont, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. He was born October 12, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Elmer and Grace (Peterson) Peterson. Graduated from Blooming Prairie High School with the class of 1947, and then entered the United States Army serving in Korea and Japan from 1948-1952. Jack then started working for OTC and married Helen Schmoll on May 28, 1955 at Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center. He continued to work for OTC for thirty nine years and then for PALS machining for twelve years. Jack was very involved within the community of Claremont, serving on the volunteer fire department for twenty seven years, active with the Claremont Chamber and was named citizen of the year in 2007. He was involved with the American Legion Post in Claremont, and was active with Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center. Jack and Helen enjoyed traveling together, and Jack enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, spending time up north and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Helen Peterson of Claremont; daughter, Vicky Grossman of Minneapolis; son, Al (and Kelly) Peterson of Mankato; four grandchildren Adam and Elisabeth Grossman, and Courtney and Taylor Peterson and one sister, Pat Oeltjenbruns of Mantorville; He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Joann Born. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday June 11, 2011from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at Grace Lutheran Church, Dodge Center on Sunday June 12, 2011from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM . Funeral services will be held Sunday June 12, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church with The Reverend Robert Lentz officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the donor''s choice.
