Obituary

John Graeme Peters (95) was born to David and Ethel Peters on April 16, 1915 in Pipestone, Minnesota. He passed away November 30, 2010 thirty-seven days after Nadine, his cherished wife of 73 years, died. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eunice and Margaret; four brothers, Hugh, Kenny, Robert and Stanley; as well as two infant daughters, Janice Jo and Terri Lynn. He is survived by five daughters: Judith Joy Brossard (Jay) of Renton, Washington; Joanne Flo Trott (Donald) of Guntown, Mississippi; Sara Jane McLaughlin (William) of Fairbanks, Alaska, Phyllis Louise Hodel (Russell) of Colusa, California and Debra Kay Lewis of Namibia, Africa; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren. John farmed and raised beef cattle in Eden Valley and finally became a meat cutter. He moved to Owatonna and Blooming Prairie in later years; eventually residing at Park Place Senior Congregate and Cedarview Care Center. John was an active member of the Church of God in Eden Valley, Minnesota and served on the school board there for several years. He was a member of Kiwanis and served as a volunteer with the hospice program in Owatonna. He enjoyed studying scripture and applying it to everyday life; he loved music. His hobbies were anything his wife wanted him to do. He was very adept at fixing things, sometimes in a very creative way. He cared for Nadine who had survived a major stroke in 1981. At retirement quilting became a mutual endeavor for John and Nadine. Family and friends meant everything to him. He is sleeping in peace until the promise is fulfilled. A public memorial service will be planned at a later date, at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to the Homestead Hospice House.
