Obituary

John F. Skalisky, 82, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Homestead Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 21, 1927 in Summit Township, Minnesota the son of John and Elizabeth (Dusek) Skalisky. He attended school district 51, and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1945. John married Deloris Placek on November 28, 1948 in Austin, MN. Together they operated the family farm until 1966, and then moved to Owatonna. In 1970 he started John's Appliance and A/C Service, in 1977 his son Michael joined him and is carrying on with John's business. John enjoyed traveling, dancing to old time music with his wife Deloris, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Deloris, of Owatonna, daughters, Suzette (and Werner) Fisher of Ramona, CA; Annette (and Odell) Hollis of Colbert, GA; and son, Michael (and Dora) Skalisky of Owatonna; eight grandchildren Matthew, John, Laura, Daniel, Tessa, Tiffany, Sean, and Carissa, sister, Mary Lou (and Jim) Warren of Rochester; His parents, and three sisters preceded him in death. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday July 25, 2009 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Funeral services will be held Sunday July 26, 2009 at 2:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend John Lestock officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice House or Trinity Lutheran Church.
