Jose R. Escobedo, 59, of Owatonna, died Friday, April 23, 2010 at Homestead Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 30, 1950 in Fresnillo Zacatecas, Mexico the son of Jose and Julia (Hernandez) Escobedo. Jose grew up in Mexico, and came to Owatonna to work at the Owatonna Canning Company for many years. Jose married Linda Jensen December 23, 1977 and later became a United States Citizen in 1985, which he was very proud of. Jose continued to work at Lakeside Foods where he worked for thirty-five years. Jose and Linda have owned the Kitchen Restaurant for the past eleven years. Jose enjoyed reading, outdoors, his family, and especially his five grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Linda Escobedo of Owatonna, daughter, Julia (and Marty) Armstrong of Waseca, son, Jose (and Christine) Escobedo of Owatonna, five grandchildren Isaiah, Gabriela, Olivia, Anthony, and Sofia. Four sisters and two brothers of Mexico also survive him. His parents preceded him in death. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Memorial service will be held Wednesday April 28, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Bachtle officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
