Joseph LaVerne Erler, 60, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Homestead Hospice House. He was born September 25, 1954 in Owatonna the son of Ervin and Beverly Sally (Brown) Erler. Joseph married Barbara Evans April 6, 1974 in Medford. He began working for Truth Hardware June 10, 1975 and would have celebrated 40 years with Amesbury Truth this summer. While at Truth he received his Master Electrician Certification and was the Master Electrician of Record for Truth. Joe enjoyed woodworking, family vacations, playing cards and marbles, puzzles, boating, fishing and golfing. He was an avid reader and history buff. He loved to spend time with his family and watching his grandkids play sports and dance. He is survived by his wife, Barb Erler of Owatonna; son, Jeremy Toby (and Brittany) Erler of Janesville; daughter, Jennifer (and Steven) Dykhuis of Vine Grove, KY; grandchildren, Hunter and Abbey Dykhuis, Kiya and Kelton Erler; brothers, Mike (and Kara) Erler of Owatonna, Nathan (and Sarah) Ronning of Austin; sister, Marilyn Ronning of Rochester; many nieces and nephews and Barbara's extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-dad and brother, Ronald. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday from 4pm to 8pm and on Sunday from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 1:30pm at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Nancy Hanson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice House Patient Care Fund, Faith Lutheran Church of Janesville or to the donor's choice.
