Obituary

Joyce “Joy” L. Davison, 73, of Owatonna, died on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, after a valiant fight with brain cancer at United Hospital in St. Paul.

Joy was born July 11, 1952, in Centerville, IA to Richard and Emma “Joyce” (Clark) McCrory. She was a 1970 graduate of Moravia High School in Moravia, IA. Joy attended Midwestern School of Evangelism in Ottumwa, IA and received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Winona State University – Rochester Campus.

Joy was united in marriage to Richard Davison on May 25, 1974, in Indianola, IA. She was employed for many years with Rice County Public Health and was involved with the Exchange Club for Family Unity in Owatonna. Joy was a member of Bethel Church in Owatonna and participated in the Bethel Community Supper. She was an avid MN Vikings fan and enjoyed cooking, grilling, volunteering, watching game shows, playing Scrabble, and time spent with her grandchildren. She loved being a mom and grandma.

Joy is survived by her husband, Richard; three children, Karen (Daniel) Haradem of Allen, TX, Matthew (Laura) Davison of Wyoming, MN, and Jason Davison of Owatonna; two grandchildren, Levi and Elise Davison; brother, Roger; step-siblings, Ross, David, Paul, and Sandy; also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Emma “Joyce”; foster parents, Gene and Evelyn; and siblings, Danny, John, Gerry, and Paul.

Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Bethel Church in Owatonna. Visitation will be 4-7 PM on Tuesday at the church and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Bethel Community Supper.
