Judith Marilyn Zylstra Judy died peacefully in Kenyon, Minnesota on July 18, 2016 at the age of 84.
Judy was born on October 1, 1931 in Zumbrota, Minnesota to Joel and Mildred Sundry. The family moved to Kenyon where Judy graduated from Kenyon High School. She married Haye Zylstra in 1955 and moved to the Minneapolis area where they had their two children and were members of Riverside Church for over 40 years. She worked at Jefferson High School cafeteria in Bloomington, Minnesota and was known by so many students for her daily dose of kindness. Judy thrived on serving others including her family, her church and her many friends. Known for sharing her many special recipes, including her coveted Melting Moments, she hosted many social gatherings in her home.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Haye Zylstra, her son David Zylstra (Lisa) and her daughter Sharon VanKampen (Dean), 5 grandchildren, Jordan VanKampen (Michelle), Nathan VanKampen, Anna Zylstra (Eric), Kelsey Wirtz (Chase) and Karina Zylstra and 1 great grandson, Alex VanKampen. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Elaine.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at Hauge Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Hauge Lutheran Church, Kenyon with The Reverend Martin Horn officiating. A luncheon will follow. Interment will be in the Stordahl Lutheran Cemetery in rural Zumbrota. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Judy's life. Memorials are preferred to Hauge Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
