Judy A. Gunhus, 74, of Apple Valley, died Saturday, January 5, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born July 27, 1944 in Faribault, Minnesota the daughter of John and Ella (Steinberg) Cordes. She grew up in Kenyon where she attended school. On August 27, 1960, she married Leroy Gunhus at Gol Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Seattle, WA, and later moved back to the Minneapolis area, settling in Apple Valley. Judy opened a gift shop, J. Middlings and later started the Evergreen Gardens nursery.
She enjoyed gardening, motorcycling, colleting antiques, baking, hosting family gatherings, traveling, collecting Red Wing Crocks and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Harley Owners Group and the Red Wing Collectors Society.
She is survived by sons, Scott (and Jeannette) Gunhus of Apple Valley and Brady Gunhus of Apple Valley; grandchildren, Jordan (and Jay) Cina of Apple Valley, Madalyn Gunhus of Rosemount and Ashton Gunhus of Apple Valley; great-granddaughter, Alexa Labey and brothers, Jack Cordes and David (and Loretta) Cordes both of Kenyon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Gunhus and parents, John and Ella.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2-4pm on Sunday, January 13th at Michaelson Funeral Home in Kenyon and at church on Monday one hour prior to the service. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Gol Lutheran Church in Kenyon with Reverend Marvin Kormann officiating. Inurnment will be in the Gol Lutheran Cemetery followed by a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
