Obituary

Julia 'Jules' J. Amundson, 39, of Owatonna, died Friday, October 15, 2010 at Owatonna Hospital surrounded by her family after a courageous 2 year and 3 month battle with cancer. She was born February 1, 1971 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Monty and Kathleen (Oehlerking) Thompson. She graduated from Burnsville High School in 1989 and then attended school to become a Radiology Technician. She then worked at Shakopee Allini Clinic. Julia was united in marriage to Jeramy Amundson on October 1, 2000 at her sisters home in Minneapolis near Minnehaha Creek. In 2001, they moved to Owatonna where she worked at Owatonna Allini Clinic and most recently worked in the physical therapy administration department. She worked for Allini for over fourteen years and in August of 2008 she resigned from work due to her health. Julia was known for her outspokeness and was not shy to share her point of view. She enjoyed reading, spiritual book study, shopping, camping, and the warmth of the sun. Her boys were her world. She is survived by her husband Jeramy Amundson of Owatonna; three sons, Matthew, Jason, and Anthony Amundson at home; stepdaughter, Kayla Amundson of Oakdale, MN; mother, Kathleen Thompson of South Sioux City, NE; father, Monty Thompson of South Sioux City, NE; two brothers, Mark (and Alice) Thompson of Savage; Doug Thompson of South Sioux City, NE; sister, Tracy Thompson of South Sioux City, NE; niece, Amanda Day; nephews, Reis and Rory Hardy; mother-in-law, Nancy (and Kent) Kruger of Farmington; father-in-law, Mike Amundson of South St. Paul; brother-in-law, Joe Amundson of Inver Grove Heights; sister-in-law, Lisa Amundson of Lakeville; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Amy Hillstrom. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 4:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with The Reverend John Weisenburger officiating. Memorials are preferred to the Julia Amundson Benefit Fund, First United Bank, 430 NW Fourth St., Faribault, MN 55021.
