Julie Ann B. Johnson, 93, of Owatonna, died Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Sterling House. She was born May 19, 1918 in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota the daughter of Ben A. and Martha (Gilbertson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. She graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1936 and graduated from St. Olaf College in 1940 with a degree of Bachelor of Music. She was a member of the St. Olaf Choir, Music Club, and sang in the Norse Choir. She taught music in Alta, Iowa, Willmar, and Owatonna. On June 23, 1946, she married Harold Johnson at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. She directed church choirs, and was a church organist for 60 years at various churches. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1945. She was very active in Hannah Altar Guild, Miriam Rebecca Circle, taught Sunday School and R.E. School, and drove for Meals On Wheels for seven years. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, and Rosemal. She sewed for many especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Jerry (and Lynda) Johnson of Colleyville, TX, Robert (and Trudy) Johnson of Goodyear, AZ, and Brian Johnson of St. Petersburg, FL; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; niece, Anne (and Ken) Prestegard of Owatonna; nephew, Paul (and Laura) Boyd of St. Paul; sister-in-law, Wilma Johnson of Alta, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold, daughter, Karolyn, sister, Marcella, brother-in-law, Rev. Robert Boyd, brother-in-law, Bernerd Johnson. Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Private interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Michaelson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
