June Henrietta Gerzevske, 92, of Kenyon, Minnesota died Friday, March 4, 2016 at the District One Hospital in Faribault, Minnesota. June was born June 19, 1923 at the Severson House in Kenyon, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Dippe) Stenbakken. She was a 1940 graduate from Kenyon High School and following graduation she worked at the District One Hospital. June married Arthur Gerzevske on June 22, 1944 at Valley Grove Lutheran Church, Nerstrand. Art and June farmed in north Morristown where they started their family. They also farmed in Nerstrand, West Concord, then purchased a farm south of Kenyon. June worked alongside her husband farming; driving tractor, milking cows, and many additional chores. Art died from colon cancer on October 3, 1963 at the age of 38. June continued to stay and work on the farm with the help of their children. She retired from farming and moved to Kenyon where she worked at Bud Larkin Cleaners. She was inspired to continue her education and graduated in June of 1966 from Faribault Area Vocational and Technical School and developed a long career working for Gopher Athletic in Owatonna. After her retirement she became a Foster Grandparent at Child's Delight daycare loving her Little Tikes. In her later years, she was a resident of the Gunderson Gardens and recently the Kenyon Sunset Home. June and Art enjoyed old time dancing and square dancing. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, especially her begonias, cooking and baking, and really loved a card game and old time music. She also enjoyed road trips with her girlfriends. June was an active member in her church communities; Valley Grove Lutheran Church of Nerstrand, First English Lutheran Church of Faribault, and Moland Lutheran Church of Kenyon. She was also active with American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Homeier of Kenyon, and Susan (Allen) Anderson of West Concord; five grandchildren, Brenda Homeier of Kenyon, Connie Homeier (Pete Gjerald) of Farmington, Kimberly (Todd) Ericson of Onalaska, WI, Tamera (Kevin) Hunt of Farmington, Matthew (Katie) Anderson of Hudson, WI; ten great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; son, Lee; grandson, Terry Homeier; brother, Russell Stenbakken; son-in-law, Gordon Homeier. Visitation will be at Moland Lutheran Church on Monday, March 14, 2016 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 14, 2016 at 1:30 PM at Moland Lutheran Church with the Reverend Nancy Edwardson officiating. Interment will be in the Moland Lutheran Cemetery, Merton Township, Minnesota. Memorials are preferred to Moland Lutheran Cemetery. Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon is handling arrangements.
