Karen Lynn Ellis, 59, of rural Owatonna, died Sunday, March 6, 2016 at her home. She was born October 25, 1956 in Owatonna the daughter of Roland and Doris (Johnson) Wood. Karen graduated from Owatonna High School, received her Associate and Bachelor degrees before completing her Masters Degree in business from the University of St. Thomas. She married Dale Ellis May 28, 1983 at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Owatonna until moving to the country in 2002. Karen worked at NCS Pearson for 9 years, Fountain Industries for 9 years and over 18 years at McQuay International, now Daikin. Karen enjoyed making stained glass, rescuing animals and traveling. She collected antiques and spent time flower gardening. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Dale Ellis of rural Owatonna; son, Christopher (and Brooke) Tripp of Owatonna; grandchildren, KeyLee Hoffstatter, Caelesta Tripp, Leif Hoffstatter; sisters, Linda (and Tom) Underland of Owatonna, Betty Wood of Faribault, Barbara (and Dennis) Rupprecht of Lemond, JoAnn (and Dennis) Hess of Owatonna; brothers, David (and JoAnn) Wood of Prosper, TX, Leonard (and Deb) Wood of Owatonna and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister in law. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm and at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10am to 11am. Memorial services celebrating her life will be held Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 11am at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church with The Reverend Mike Walerius officiating.
