Karla Kay Kispert Schwab, 49, of Owatonna, died Monday, May 14, 2018 at Methodist Hospital after a long battle with cancer. She was born March 22, 1969 in Owatonna the daughter of Gene and Fern (Solem) Kispert. Karla graduated with the Class of 1987 from Owatonna High School. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Metropolitan State University in 1995. On June 29, 2002 she married Dennis Schwab in Hudson, WI and the couple made their home in Owatonna. Karla was a caregiver at REM Woodvale and Our Home South for many years. She enjoyed caring for and developing a relationship with her clients and had a client, Crystal, who she shared a special connection with. Karla was a sweet, generous, loving and unique individual that touched many people throughout her life. Karla was very involved with her children and their activities. She enjoyed reading, traveling, nature, motorcycle rides and as she would say, "going on an adventure" from time to time. She also loved animals and spending time with her friends and family. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Schwab of Owatonna; daughters, Katelyn Kispert Schwab of Winona, Maria Schwab of Owatonna; father, Gene Kispert of Owatonna; brother, Steve Kispert of Owatonna; sister, Kathy (and Scott) Kispert Marshall of Crosby; sisters-in-law Brenda (and Adam) Pitan of Pequot Lakes, Jennifer Schwab of Owatonna; mother & father-in-law Paul and Judi Schwab of Owatonna and many nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by mother, Fern Kispert and her sister in law, Lisa Hilstad. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday from 4pm to 7pm and at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with The Reverend Greg Schlicker officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
