Kathleen M. Gilbert 77, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the Owatonna Commons. She was born May 8, 1931 in Owatonna, the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Morrison) Peterson. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, rosemalling and toll painting. She also enjoyed making other crafts, including dolls, which her husband made, and she would paint the faces and sew clothing for them, together they made hundreds of these dolls and sold them in craft stores. Kathleen was also a student at UMW-Waseca in her adult years studying bookkeeping. Outside of raising her three boys, she enjoyed watching deer and feeding the birds from her many feeders at home, and playing the piano and organ. She is survived by sons, Robert (and Jackie) Gilbert of Phoenix, AZ Gary (and Sue) Gilbert of Erie, CO, Lane (and Deborah) Gilbert of Casa Grande, AZ, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers James (and Joan) Peterson of West Bend, WI, John Peterson of Rochester, Ronald Peterson of Logansport, IN, and two sisters, Delores Peterson of Apple Valley, and Jeannie (and Lyle) Preston of Owatonna, and two sister in laws Betty Peterson of Waseca, and Diane Peterson of Boston. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Goodwin, and two brothers Donald ' Butch' and Du Lloyd 'Pete' Peterson. Visitation will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday March 14 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday March 14 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Edward McGrath officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Steele County Humane Society.
