Kathleen Ann Gordon, age 72, of Owatonna, died early Monday, June 5, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.
Kathleen Ann Gordon, the daughter of Howard and Dorothy (Edberg) Vasseur, was born in East Chicago, Indiana, on August 31, 1950. At the age of 4, her family moved to Winter, WI. She graduated from Winter High School in 1968 and continued her education at Wisconsin State University in Superior for 3 years studying music. She was married on September 11, 1971 to Patrick Gordon. They later divorced. She moved to Rice Lake, WI where their daughter, Tina Louise, was born. The next move was to Owatonna where she worked for a short time at Federated. She was then hired at Truth Hardware where she spent the next 40 years until she retired in 2014. In retirement, she had spent her time watching her grandchildren play sports, reading and quilting. She belonged to the Heritage Quilt Guild and spent time with other quilters sharing ideas and working on quilts. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she was involved in Sunday School, altar Guild, being a lector, member of Church Council and singing at the 10:30 blended service.
She is survived by her daughter, Tina (Bruce ) Radel of Owatonna, grandchildren Brady (Margaret) Radel, Elizabeth Radel, William Radel; siblings, Nancy Carter of Winter, WI, Marge (Gary) Hommerding of Osakis, MN, Howard Vasseur of Belgium, Chuck (Janet) Vasseur of Mazatlan, Mexico; several nieces and nephews and her extended family through Tina's marriage to Bruce. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Debbe Eck and Mary Katherine Vasseur.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 19, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church, 1301 Lincoln Avenue, Owatonna. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
