Kathleen Margaret Jarvi, 68, of Owatonna, died Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Homestead Hospice House with her family and friends by her side. She was born December 21, 1940 in Owatonna the daughter of Daniel and Mildred (Bringgold) Long. Kathleen lived her whole life in Owatonna. She was a member of the first graduating class of St. Mary's School and Marian High School. Kathy attended St. Gabriel's School of Nursing and graduated in 1962. On Dec. 5, 1964 she married Richard Jarvi at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna. Kathy spent most of her 40-year nursing career working in labor and delivery. She never felt she had to go to work because she loved her job and looked forward to going there everyday. Kathy was an extremely talented artisan. She loved painting, making baskets and scrapbooking. Kathy is survived by her husband, Richard Jarvi of Owatonna; sons, Daniel Jarvi of Owatonna, Thomas (and Andrea) Jarvi of Scottsdale, AZ, Charles (and Tammy) Jarvi of Owatonna; grandchildren, Breyonna, Kealey, Carson, Madisyn; sister, Jane (and Paul) Coufal of Apple Valley; brother in law, Donald Jarvi of Portland, OR and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm and at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday from 9am to 10am. Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father John Sauer officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna.
