Kathleen "Kathy" Doris Jones, 89, of Owatonna, died Monday, April 1, 2019, at Koda Living Community. She was born November 29, 1929, in Rochester, Minnesota the daughter of Valentine and Ella (Ranfranz) Smith. She attended Trinity Parochial School for 8 years and graduated from Rochester High School in 1949. After her schooling, she worked at Zumbro Cafeteria in the Zumbro Hotel. On November 12, 1952, she married Kenneth W. Jones. The couple lived in Norfolk, Virginia while Kenneth was in the Navy. In 1955, they moved to Owatonna. Along with raising her family, Kathy worked at Kay's Grill, Inn Town, Josten's and most recently Hardee's. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Her interests included ceramics, camping, crocheting, travel, dancing, reading, baking, cooking, puzzles, clipping coupons for the V.F.W. and spending time with family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother; great-grandmother and mother-in-law. She is survived by her children, Debbie (Duane) Klecker, Dean (Peggy) Jones and Denise (Mike) Meixner all of Owatonna; daughter-in-law, Sue Jones of Spring Valley; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Andre) Jay of Stewartville, Travis Jones of Spring Valley, Jared (Alicyn) Prestegard, Samantha Jo (Dylan) Meixner, Tim (Whitney) Jones all of Owatonna, Dillon Meixner of Hope and Katie (Christopher) Jones of Owatonna; great-grandchildren, Mitchell Jay of Stewartville and Lily Prestegard of Owatonna; step-grandchildren, Jason (Angela) Klecker, Scott (Tiffany) Klecker and Stacy (Michael) Burton all of Owatonna; eight step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Vernon Smith of Rochester and Marietta Brown of Machesney Park, IL and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Valentine and Ella; husband, Kenneth Jones; sons, Dale and Keith Jones; four sisters; three brothers and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna on Friday, April 5th from 9:30-11am. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 5, 2019 at 11am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna with The Reverend Amanda Weinkauf officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Clinton Falls Township. Kathy's family would like to say a special thank you to the Koda Living Community staff for the loving care she received.
