Kay Maxine Karsten, 78, of Owatonna, died Monday, June 27, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Kay was born May 24, 1938 in Janesville, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Maxine (Johnson) Schmidt. She graduated Janesville High School and served one year as the Janesville Dairy Princess. Kay moved to Owatonna in 1961 and worked at Josten's until her retirement.
Kay loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and close friends. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping trips with her children and traveling. Kay had a sense of fashion, enjoyed golf, tennis, reading, and playing tennis.
She is survived by her four children, Lori Langsweirdt of Seattle, WA, Zane Watts of Mankato, MN, Bruce (and Diane) Watts of Owatonna, MN, and Alan (and Carmen) Watts of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Lana (and Matt) Hansen, Luke (and Kortni) Langsweirdt, Kelly (and Nate) Garland, Brendon Watts, and Ethan Watts; two great grandchildren, Rosalind and Duke; extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bruce Schmidt.
Private family services will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna.
