Obituary

Keith Harlan Deming, 81, of Faribault, died Monday, June 13, 2011 at his home. He was born February 27, 1930 in LeSueur County the son of Sterling and Vera (Simpson) Deming. Keith married LaDonna Yonkey Dec. 31, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. He served in the US Army from 1951-1953. The couple farmed for 22 years in Steele County prior to moving to Cannon Lake in 1979. He then worked as a heavy equipment operator for various construction companies and ended his career as a pipeliner in 2001. In retirement he enjoyed delivering Avon for his wife. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where he served as an usher, was a member of the Crusader's Club, helped with St. John Parking at the fair and volunteered in many other capacities. Keith served on the St. John Cemetery Board. He was a member of the Eagle's Club, the Faribault Senior Center, COLA and the Cannon Lake Association. Keith was an avid gardener, bird watcher and a good steward of the Cannon Lake lakeshore. He is survived by his wife LaDonna Deming; daughters, Pat (and Glen) Giesler of Morristown, Barb (and Denny) Meier of Mankato; son, Perry (and Traudy Nordine) Deming of Faribault; grandsons, Aaron (and Val) Meier, Derek Meier; great grandchildren, Rylan, Addison, Kennedy, Ashlee; sisters, Joan (and Don) Opseth of Hayfield, Janet Meyer of Janesville; sister in law, Shirley Deming of Owatonna and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Sterling Deming, Jr., and James Deming; brother in law, Curtis Meyer. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm and at St. John Lutheran Church on Friday from 1pm to 2pm. Funeral services will be held June 17, 2011 at 2pm at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church Roof Fund, Ronald McDonald House of Rochester or to the donor''s choice.
