Kenneth Engward Hanson, 89, of Owatonna, died Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Koda Living Community.
He was born March 13, 1926 in Bixby the son of Albert and Rose (Styndl) Hanson. He graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1944 and lived in Steele County his entire life. Ken married Elaine Havlik May 20, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed near Ellendale for 22 years before moving to Owatonna in 1964. Ken worked for Owatonna Tool Company and later retired from Jostens. While living in Owatonna Ken and Elaine built and lived in four different houses. Ken was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he served two terms on the church council.
Ken loved being in the outdoors, hunting and fishing whenever possible. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, trap shooting and wood working. He held life memberships at Owatonna Gun Club and Elks Lodge 1395. His charismatic personality endeared him to many friends.
He is survived by his wife Elaine Hanson of Owatonna; daughter, Lynn (and John) Suess of Loveland; grandchildren, Dion, Desiree, Ryan and Dustin Hanson; great grandchildren, Cress, Ridge and Drake Hanson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dean; parents; brother, Arnold Hanson; sister Betty Dahle.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 12 noon at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with The Reverend Karl Korbel officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
