Obituary

Kenneth Frank 'Ken' Pittman, 92, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Cedarview Care Center. He was born August 5, 1920 in Aurora Township, Steele County, Minnesota, the son of Frank and Lydia (Kuntz) Pittman. He was baptized August 21, 1921 at St. John Lutheran Church, Havana Township. He attended country school District #27. He married Viola Ann Oeltjenbruns on June 4, 1946. They lived near Bixby on the family farm where they milked cows, raised hogs, ducks, chickens and farmed until he retired in 1993. His son Roger took over the farming operation. They moved into Park Place in Owatonna in August of 2011. Ken enjoyed having his family and grandchildren around him. The holidays were always a special time for him to spend with his family. He had a very strong influence on his children and grandchildren. Kenneth is survived by his wife Viola of 66 years; two daughters, Carol Kubat (Leslie Ash) of Albert Lea, Janice (Timothy) Wenzel of New Richland; four sons, Donald Pittman, Steven (Theresa) Pittman of Owatonna, Rodney (Cindy) Pittman, Roger (Erin) of rural Bixby, 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister, Rosa Kruckeberg of Owatonna. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lydia Pittman, sister, Dorothy Kruckeberg, infant grandson, Tyler Pittman, brothers-in-law, Floyd and Earl Kruckeberg. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, January 17, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at St. John Lutheran Church on Friday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 18, 2013 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to St. John''s Lutheran Church Radio Fund or Homestead Hospice House.
