Kenneth Harold Sable, 76, of Owatonna, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Koda Living Community. He was born June 15, 1937 in Ellendale, Minnesota the son of Harold and Carla (Hanson) Sable. He attended Ellendale Country School. He entered the United States Navy on December 29, 1955 and was stationed aboard the USS Ticonderoga until his honorable discharge on December 5, 1959. He returned to Ellendale and married Elaine Holland. In their union they had three children, Robert, Carmen, and Renee. They later divorced. He married Patricia Pichner on May 17, 1975 at Redeemer Lutheran Church and made their home in Owatonna. Ken worked as a welder at Owatonna Manufacturing Company for 28 years, co-owned S S Sports Supply, owned and operated Rite Buy Liquor Store in Dodge Center for 11 years, and then drove school bus for the Owatonna Bus Company until his retirement. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles and past Aerie president in Owatonna, American Legion Post 77, VFW Post 8941, past regional director of the Minnesota United Snowmobilers Association, past president of the Steele County Sno-Blazers and taught snowmobile safety classes, and Minnesota Pheasants. He was a member of trapshooting teams in Owatonna, Waseca, and Minneapolis and past Boy Scout Leader where he earned the Order of the Arrow. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, camping, fishing, gardening and bird watching. He also was a stock car racer and collected model railroads. He is survived by his wife Patricia Sable of Owatonna; son, Robert Sable of Bloomington, IL; daughter, Renee Kruchten of Owatonna; grandson, Garrett Kruchten of Owatonna; brother, Harold (and Linda) Sable of West Concord; two half brothers, Richard (and Linda) Sorenson of Waseca, and Raymond (and Glenda) Olsen of Las Vegas, NV; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Carmen, sister, Bernice Kasper, and two brothers, Robert and David Sable. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday, July 26, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday at 10:00 to 11:00 AM. A Fraternal Order of Eagles memorial service will be held 7:30 PM Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Owatonna with The Reverend Kirk Griebel officiating. Interment will be in the St. Olaf Cemetery in New Richland. Memorials are preferred to donor''s choice.
