Kenneth Oscar Stensvold, 74, of Owatonna, died Friday, January 20, 2012 at Homestead Hospice House. He was born November 4, 1937 in Lemington, Wisconsin the son of Magnus and Evelyn (Warner) Stensvold. He grew up in Deer Park, Wisconsin and was a 1955 graduate of Amery High School in Amery, Wisconsin. He joined the National Guard in New Richmond, Wisconsin and served for ten years. He married Peggy Schanon on November 7, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery, WI. They lived in the metropolitan area and Ken worked in the dairy business in Stillwater and Minneapolis. In 1970, they moved to Owatonna then Blooming Prairie from 1977 to 2000 when they returned to Owatonna. During this time, Ken worked as a salesman for carpet distributors including Herregan''s Carpet, Mohawk, and All-Tile, Inc. and received many national awards for his sales achievements. Most recently he worked part time at Nelson Decorating in Owatonna retiring due to ill health. Ken found great pleasure as a pitcher in fast pitch softball as well as a coach. He coached the Hudrlik Furniture Softball Team to Class A National Tournament. He also enjoyed landscaping and was extremely proud of his lawn and garden. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife Peggy Stensvold of Owatonna; two sons, Ken (and Beverly) Stensvold of Byron, and Kerry Stensvold of Owatonna; two daughters, Kim (and Jim) Klein of Oconto, WI, and Karen (and Wayne) Njos of Blooming Prairie; 11 grandchildren, Jill (and Brian) Kaphingst, Joshua Klein, Aaron (and Kelly) Klein, Amy Klein, Katie (and Jason) Pierce, Anne (and Devin) Curley, Emily Stensvold, Jennifer (and Keith) Thomas, Amanda (and Kevin) Tocko, Stephanie (and Brandon) Emanuel, and Ryan Stensvold; 17 great grandchildren; nephew, Lonnie Stensvold of Deer Park, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, step father, Keith Brees, infant daughter, great grandson, Alexander Jason Pierce, granddaughter-in-law, Becki Klein, brother, Magnus 'Sonny' Stensvold, and sister-in-law, Audrey Stensvold. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM . Funeral services will be held January 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna.
